OAKHAVEN LABRADORS

Oakhaven Labradors is located in Linden, Michigan.  I am a member of The Huron River Labrador Club and a BREEDER OF MERIT with AKC. We have been breeding Labradors under the kennel name of Oakhaven for over 20 years. Dogs from our bloodlines have become show dogs, service dogs, hunting companions, titled hunting dogs and just plain "couch potatoes". We breed Labradors to the Labrador Breed Standard.  While we wish to produce labs that are pretty to look at, they must also be functional to do the tasks asked of them and also have the ability to hunt and retrieve. Temperment is of the utmost importance because a majority of our puppies go to homes where they live with children.  We breed for easily trainable, not hyper, great dispositioned Labradors.  Our breeding stock have clearances for hips, at least good or excellent, elbows normal, hearts normal, and current eye cerfs.  As well, they have genetic testing of Optigen for PRA, EIC and Coppertoxicosis.

The love of dogs came to me at an early age. I began as a 4H'r showing my family dogs and then later became an instuctor for 4H and Obedience.  In my twenties I showed and finished several dogs of another breed.  In 1980, I married my husband, Nick and we bought a 35 acre farm in Holly, Michigan that became known as Oakhaven Farm.  A few years later, I was introduced to the Labrador Retriever breed and purchased my first Labrador Retriever, a large yellow male, I named OAKHAVEN'S MIGHTY OAK, aka "OAKIE". Through this kind "gentle giant", I learned what it was to have a truly great dog. Oakie went on to become a model for CARHART CLOTHING and was featured in their videos and on their yearly catalogue. He became quite a celebrity in our area of Michigan.

Today, years after the passing of Oakie and many Labradors later, this wonderful breed still makes my heart sing.  We moved in October of 2017 to a 74 acre farm in Linden, Mi. I plan to continue to show my Labradors in conformation and raise a couple of litters a year. Thank you for stopping by to view my dogs.  Each has been special and all have blessed my life.
